BOSS Alun Rossiter is refusing to give up hope of finishing top of the table ahead of Swindon’s Premiership play-offs.

They missed out on maximum points at Peterborough in an exciting meeting in front of the BT Sport cameras.

Ryan Douglas was the trump card at reserve for Peterborough with 18+1 in place of the injured Jason Garrity.

The CFS Filtration Robins worked hard with Rasmus Jensen notching 13 in a solid display from the top five.

Said Rossiter: “Their reserves kept them close, fair play to them.

“There’s still meetings to be raced and obviously we would love to finish top of the league.

“There was some good racing out there in the end after all the rain they had and I’m just pleased we won.

“Now we move on and we have a Cup Final at Belle Vue on Thursday - that’s our focus.”

There was plenty of good racing for the fans - and Swindon riders were in the thick of the action.

Adam Ellis pulled off a superb pass on Rohan Tungate in Heat 11 to put them 36-30 ahead.

And in the next Jensen went from third to first in spectacular style to maintain the six-point lead.

Heat 13 was a world class race with British Champion Charles Wright splitting the Swindon pair and with two to go the visitors were eight points up.

But a late rally from Panthers frustrated Rossiter and his men.

Swindon will announce the date of the home leg of their play-off semi-final on Tuesday morning.

Their opponents won’t be known until the league table is complete next week but clubs have agreed their home availability.

PETERBOROUGH 44: Ryan Douglas 18+1, Charles Wright 6+1, Rohan Tungate 6, Ulrich Ostergaard 5+2, Hans Andersen 5, Scott Nicholls 2+1, Ty Proctor 2.
SWINDON 46: Rasmus Jensen 13, Adam Ellis 10+1, Jason Doyle 9+1, Troy Batchelor 9, Tobiasz Musielak 3+1, Ellis Perks 1, Claus Vissing 1.
