ROBINS – LET US KEEP JD!

Wednesday September 25, 2019
SWINDON Chairman Terry Russell has told fans he wants to keep former World Champion Jason Doyle at the club next year.

With the Premiership play-offs against Wolverhampton coming up next week – the first leg at Monmore is on Monday with the decider at the Abbey on Thursday October 3 –

Doyle is a vital part of the CFS Filtration Robins’ hopes of winning a second title in three years.

And Russell, who will watch the action unfold while recovering from surgery, is pleading with British Speedway bosses not to cut back on the standard of the top division next year.

He said: “Looking ahead to the winter and the AGM, I sincerely hope nothing drastic happens and we have a situation which makes it hard to employ riders like Doyley in this league.

“He’s box office and there’s no need to do it. We are very happy with Jason here at Swindon and we would like to have him back in the side next season, but I just hope the
AGM doesn’t bring out something which prohibits that.

“People all too often down the years have looked to water it down to cut costs but if we lost riders like Doyley from this league then crowds would go down again – that cannot be allowed to happen.

“Ideally I would like to see another team join the Premiership and make it eight clubs, that would be the perfect number, but let’s see.

“There are so many good things about this sport and we need to build on that.”

Everyone at Swindon Speedway would like to wish Terry well with his surgery and the recovery.
