ANDERS Rowe says Swindon Robins have made his dream come true.

Rowe,17, has been handed one of the reserve spots at his local club for the 2020 Premiership season.

And he admits it will be big challenge – but he’s ready to meet it head on.

“It’s always been my childhood dream to ride for Swindon from a very young age and It’s a really big opportunity for me,” he said.

“I’ve always felt welcome at Swindon from fans, track staff and promotion.

“It will be great to gain more knowledge and experience from my team mates. I know it will be a challenge but I’m looking forward to it and the season ahead.”

Rowe joins 2017 World Champion Jason Doyle, Troy Batchelor, Rasmus Jensen and Ellis Perks in the defence of their league and cup double.

He’s also hoping individuals or businesses can help him with sponsorship.

“It’s going to be tough for me so the more help I can get from sponsorship the better,” he said. “It’s a vital part of professional racing.”

CFS Filtration Robins boss Alun Rossiter is pleased to have Rowe in his side.

He said: “Anders seems really up for it, he keeps telling me that he is ready so he has got the opportunity.

“It will be nice to have a local lad in the team – Darryl Ritchings had a spell. But apart from him, I was probably the last local rider to feature in the team.

“He’s a keen learner and wants to progress his career. This is a big step for him, and we can’t put too much pressure on him.

“But when he tells me he is up for it and ready to go I’m happy to offer him that opportunity.”
