Swindon Speedway have been saddened to hear of the passing of two prominent and popular members of the Robins family.

Roger Nettlefold was the long term time-keeper at the Abbey Stadium holding the stopwatch at meetings for over four decades. Roger also recorded race times at Oxford, Reading and Milton Keynes.

Dave Eaton was a sports reporter for the Swindon Advertiser newspaper, formerly the Evening Advertiser. Dave had a passion for many sports but speedway and the Robins were a very big love of his, and become a huge part of his life.

Co-promoter Lee Kilby said: “It's incredibly sad news that we've lost both Roger and Dave. Both were really wonderful men who gave much of their lives to assisting, supporting and promoting the Robins. When I think about growing up at the Abbey both Roger and Dave were always there - part of the fabric of the club."

Everyone connected with the club would like to send sincere condolences to the families of Roger and Dave.
